Why should I tilt my saddle when climbing?
Tilting the seat nose-down is scientifically proven to increase efficiency during seated climbs. Keeping your saddle perpendicular to gravity instead of parallel to the ground is like having a backrest for support so you don't slide off the saddle. This includes a host of benefits including reducing arm fatigue, improved biomechanical efficiency, more power, better air intake and more.
Negative saddle tilt will help if you've experienced any of the following when climbing:
- Fatigue or shortness of breath
- Pain, discomfort, or numbing in sensitive areas caused by saddle pressure
